Occam

The whole of mathematics acquires a rationale provided it remains a connected whole. - Michael Atiyah

Running Occam locally gives it access your local file system so that you can work on your own files. Installing it can be done in a few easy steps:

  1. Install Node.JS version 6, not version 4 please.
  2. Download the latest zip file, see below, and unzip it somewhere.
  3. Open a command prompt and go to the unzipped 'occam' directory. In there, type:
    npm start

You can press ESC to exit anytime.

Now open Chrome or Chromium and Occam will at the following URL:

http://localhost:8000

In the settings pane you'll find an input field to set the projects directory, which is the place on your local file system to store your own projects. Set it now and hit enter to load the projects if there are any. Importing projects from the welcome page will also copy them straight to the projects directory. It is recommended that you share projects using Git but sharing via Google Drive, Dropbox, etc is fine.
